On July 4, mClinica had the honor of receiving the Pierre Fabre Foundation Prize for e-health innovation. The prize was received at a conference hosted by the Pierre Fabre Foundation, a French organization dedicated to improving healthcare in emerging markets.

In the lead-up to the conference, the organization and its partners conducted an extensive review of e-health initiatives around the world. From a pool of several thousand candidates, mClinica was selected for the prize.

Jake Josol, mClinica’s Director of Software Services, represented mClinica at the conference, where he talked about our programs to improve access and adherence to essential medicines in Asia’s emerging markets. These programs leverage our digital pharmacy networks, which encompass thousands of pharmacies in Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia.

Through these networks, we deploy applications and services that boost efficiencies in pharmaceutical supply chains and health outcomes for patients. At the conference, Josol spoke specifically about our Connect programs, which use mobile messaging to promote health education for patients.

The conference also helped spread awareness about an exciting new program by the Foundation to study and support promising e-health initiatives in emerging markets. Dubbed the Observatory for E-health in Southern Countries (ODESS), it will focus primarily on e-health initiatives in Asia and Africa.

ODESS will support the Pierre Fabre Foundation’s other programs, which are dedicated to four key issues: training pharmacists and drug specialists; bolstering access to quality primary care; fighting sickle cell diseases; and improving the state of tropical dermatology.

The Pierre Fabre Foundation Prize is the latest in a series of awards that we’ve received for our work in Asia’s emerging markets. These include the USAID Data for Resilience Award in May 2016 and the Hack Osaka Award in February 2015.
